20+ years of experience | Australia-wide | Direct-to-designer studio
Erica Miller Design has produced work for explorers and producers across mining, energy and resources
Each project ran end-to-end remotely, with confidentiality maintained from first call to press-ready hand-off.
Where the material was market-sensitive, an NDA was signed before the scoping call.
Have a great day!
"Erica has worked for me across multiple development projects, turning complex finance and engineering into meaningful IMs and communication packages. Outstanding, delivers on time and gets the client's needs"
The energy sector's specific design challenges
A few things make energy-sector work different from designing for, say, a B2B or SaaS company.
Technical density without losing the reader. A hydrogen IM has to explain reservoir geology to a generalist VC. An annual report has to satisfy a regulator's compliance officer AND a retail investor flipping through after dinner. The design carries that weight hierarchy, white space, where the chart sits, and what gets pulled into a margin call-out. Erica's been working with this density for 20+ years.
Long content-readiness cycles. Energy briefs rarely arrive content-complete. Technical content is being refined in parallel with the document being built. The studio is set up for this — sample spreads first, content flowed in as it lands, tracked changes through two structured refinement rounds.
Deadline pressure tied to deal windows. A capital raise has a window. An IPO has a date. EMD has turned around capital-raise IMs in under a fortnight, where the deal cycle required it. Bring the deadline to the scoping call — you'll have a confirmed timeline before the call ends.
Sensitivity around unannounced data. Pre-FID reserves, embargoed earnings, and strategic JVs not yet public. All the routines for this studio. NDAs are signed before the discovery call when needed. Files stored on Australian infrastructure. Never sent to external AI training tools.
What working with the studio looks like
The studio is intentionally a one-person operation. Erica scopes the brief, designs the document, runs the proof rounds, and hands over the press-ready file. There's no project manager translating between you and the designer, and no junior taking the first pass on your IM.
For a sector where the document carries the argument — and where the document changes a lot between draft one and final — that direct line matters. You email Erica. She emails you back. Two structured rounds of feedback in a single shared file. No version-control chaos. No "which file is the latest one?" thirty minutes before a board meeting.
Most clients come back for the next project rather than re-onboarding a new designer. Several have been with the studio for over a decade.
A four-stage process.
No surprises, no agency baton-pass.
A 15-minute scoping call. You bring the brief, the deadline, and any existing brand assets.
An NDA is signed first if your material is market-sensitive.
By the end of the day, you have an indicative price and a fixed delivery date in your inbox.
First-pass concept lands as a real, designed sample spread, plus the typographic system the rest of the document will follow.
Not a mood board. Real pages you can hold up against a board agenda.
Two structured rounds of feedback in a single shared file.
Tracked changes, no version-control chaos.
You email Erica directly. She emails you back directly.
Press-ready and digital-ready files. PDF with embedded fonts and crop marks for print, RGB-optimised PDF for screen and email, social and email tile exports where requested.
Print management coordinated with Brisbane print partners if needed.
