Erica Miller Design delivered a complete suite of communications for the Longreach Digital Water Meter Installation Project. This initiative, supported by funding from the Australian Government through the National Water Grid Water Infrastructure for Sustainable and Efficient Regions program, involved replacing ageing mechanical water meters with digital meters supplied by Taggle.

Working with Longreach Regional Council’s Marketing and Communications team, the Australian National Water Grid, the Queensland Government, and Taggle (the digital water meter supplier), we developed clear and accessible communications for a diverse regional audience. This process involved understanding the needs of Council, residents, and contractors, defining communication objectives, and crafting concise messaging. A cohesive design approach was applied across print, digital, and on-site materials to ensure consistency and clarity, while the rollout strategy was aligned with project milestones to maximise community engagement and trust.

The communication materials translated information about digital water meters into clear, visually engaging formats for a diverse regional audience. Working collaboratively with Council, the National Water Grid, and the supplier, we established a cohesive visual language and messaging framework, applied consistently across print, digital, and on-site materials. Concepts were iterated and refined to ensure clarity, hierarchy, and readability, making every communication piece both informative and accessible.

Deliverables included social media graphics, a fact sheet, resident communications (letter and postcard), and the portal interface design.
The campaign built trust and understanding within the Longreach community by delivering clear, consistent messaging across all channels. Aligned with project milestones, the communications supported a smooth rollout and strengthened the Council’s reputation for transparency and proactive infrastructure management.
